Proof That A Small Email List Is All You Need

If I’ve heard it once, I’ve heard it a thousand times; “The money is in the list.”

Yup, I went there.

Here’s the thing, though.  When it comes to building your list, you should be focusing on quality instead of quantity.

See, it’s not about adding 500 subscribers a day to your email list.  Sure, adding that many subscribers every day is great, but it’s not necessary.  And it’s a good thing, too, because most new Internet Marketers simply cannot afford to cough up the amount of money that it would cost to product that many opt-ins.

A lot of people ask me what the best way to build a list is.  I always tell them it’s through their website or blog.  Do you want to know why?  It’s because when people fill out an opt-in form from your blog, it’s usually because they really enjoyed a piece of content they just read.  Whether it be a list article, tip article, product review, or a plain old rant, if people opt-in after reading one of your posts, it’s because they feel like you’re a person they really want to hear more from.

I hate to tell you this folks, but the days of “churn and burn” email marketing are a thing of the past.  People have become jaded.  They voraciously protect their email address, as well they should.  You can thank all of the spammers, scammers, liars, and outright sleazeballs for that.

Back when I was a young boy, I had to walk five miles through snow, sleet, and freezing rain to get to school…  No, wait.  That was a story my grandfather used to tell me.  Anyhow, what I meant to say was when I started ten years ago, things were a lot easier.  It was easy to get people to subscriber.  All you had to do was offer them an eBook or a piece of software and they would line up to “enter their email address in the form below.”

What changed?  Well, for one thing, people got wise to the fact that most of the stuff that was being given away was rehashed garbage.  Add to that a massive spike in people who wanted to make their living from the Internet, and you have yourself a full on email marketing recession.  It’s not all doom and gloom, however.  The good news is that if you are one of the people who want to do it right, you are going to be wildly successful.

Email is still the number one way to build your online business.  It’s the only real form of “push button” traffic.  And don’t listen to the morons who want to tell you email is dead, either.  I see lots of people advertising their chat bots and SMS marketing doohickeys on Facebook.  They’re really quick to tell you how people aren’t interested in email anymore, but when you click on their “learn more” button, guess what happens?  They try to collect your email!

My advice to aspiring email marketers for 2018 is simple and easy.  Focus on getting quality leads.  The best way to do this is to produce mind-blowing content.  All you need is a WordPress blog, an autoresponder service, and a whole bunch of creativity.

I’m going to show you that don’t need a huge list.  The image below is from one of my recent affiliate campaigns.  I promoted a low cost, high quality product called Profitize.

As you can see, I had an amazing conversion rate of 16% and an EPC (earnings per click) of almost $1.  That is phenomenal for my niche.  Would it surprise you to know that my list is only around 7500 subscribers?  Now, that may sound like a lot, but given that I started building my list almost 9 years ago, it’s really not.
